COMPANY PROFILE
ALGAE S.A. Company was established in 1996 in Therma, Nigrita.
The idea to produce SPIRULINA came earlier in 1992 as result of a 10 years research, carried out by the faculties of Geology - Geothermy and the Institute of Geological Research, Aristotelion University of Thessalonica.
A study of University of Thessaloniki led by prof. Dr. Gerorge Fytikas showed that the solar spectrum of the region, the large number of sunny days and the use of local geothermal energy to heat the water renders the place quite suitable for Spirulina growth.
Really impressed by this nature’s miracle called SPIRULINA, we decided to risk its production, which for many people was considered impossible.
The investment took place in 1997 as part of the European program LEADER and has been awarded as the most Innovative Idea in Greece for 1998.
Since the year 2000, production is certified by TUV AUSTRIA with EN-ISO 9002.
